External Screens

Use of an external screen is optional but provides a much better experience for client presentation.

Studio Pro supports any external screen the iPad can connect to. This includes those connected to wirelessly via AirPlay and those connected to physically with the HDMI adapter, VGA adapter, or composite adapter.

When connected to an external screen what is shown depends on the current mode of Studio Pro. If you're in any of the viewer modes (i.e., Photos, Layouts, or Room Displays) the display area of that mode will be shown on the screen, otherwise you'll see the placeholder image for the current external screen calibration. The viewer modes will match their aspect ratio to the external screen connected.

Screen Calibrations

Studio Pro is capable of displaying photo sizes equal to or smaller than the screen to scale. Screen calibrations define the size and other attributes of the screen that make this possible. To customize the placeholder image or set the size calibration for a screen you'll need to create a screen calibration. There is exactly one active at any time, but you can create any amount of them to accommodate different screens and setups.

Adding a Screen Calibration

Make sure you're connected to the external screen and begin by tapping "Add Screen Calibration..." in the External Screens panel.

  1. Enter a name for the screen calibration.
  2. Measure the line displayed on the external screen from one point to the other and enter it in the "Line Length" field. The units for this measurement depend on whether you've selected imperial (inches) or metric (centimeters).
  3. Tap the "Placeholder Image" row to select the placeholder image to be displayed. This image will be sized to fit the screen, preserving the aspect ratio.
  4. Tap "Background Color" to change the background color shown in areas not covered by the placeholder image.
  5. Optionally set the "Overscan Compensation" if the external screen clips the presented image or shows a black border.

Editing a Screen Calibration

Make sure you're connected to the external screen and in the External Screens panel.

  1. Tap on the right column in the screen calibration list.
  2. Make any changes.

Deleting a Screen Calibration

You can delete a screen calibration using one of two ways.

  1. Swipe left to right on it in the list and tap "Delete".
  2. Tap "Edit" at the top of the panel, tap on the minus button next to it, and then tap "Delete".

Changing the Current Screen Calibration

Make sure you're connected to the external screen and in the External Screens panel.

  1. Tap on the left column in the screen calibration list. A green check indicates the currently selected screen calibration.
